Privacy Policy
Jawa Property Care respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information when you use our website, request services, communicate with us or apply to work with us.
1. Our privacy commitment
We aim to follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply to us, and to use those principles as our standard of good privacy practice. “Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.
2. Information we collect
Depending on your dealings with us, we may collect:
- your name, email address, telephone number, suburb, postcode and service address;
- booking details, preferred dates, property access information, job instructions, photographs you provide and communications with us;
- quotes, invoices, payment status and service history (we do not ask you to submit payment-card details through our website forms);
- for prospective workers and subcontractors: work type, experience, service area, availability, ABN, insurance and equipment/vehicle status;
- technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information and website usage data where collected by our hosting, security or analytics services; and
- any other information you choose to provide.
Please do not submit sensitive information that we have not requested. If it becomes necessary, we will seek consent or otherwise handle it as required by law.
3. How we collect information
We collect information directly from you through online forms, telephone calls, email, messages, in-person dealings and service delivery. We may also receive information from a property owner, tenant, real estate agent, property manager, referrer or another person arranging a service, and from our workers or subcontractors when completing a job.
4. Why we collect and use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and prepare estimates or quotes;
- schedule, coordinate, perform and follow up property services;
- communicate job, access, safety and completion information;
- manage customer relationships, records, accounts and invoices;
- assess expressions of interest from workers and subcontractors;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve our website and services;
- handle complaints, disputes and legal obligations; and
- send marketing communications where permitted, with an option to unsubscribe.
5. Workers, subcontractors and service providers
To arrange and deliver a requested service, we may disclose only the information reasonably required—such as your name, contact details, service address, access arrangements and job scope—to the worker or subcontractor assigned to the job. We may also disclose information to technology, website hosting, data storage, communications, accounting, payment, insurance, professional-advice and security providers that support our operations.
Recipients are expected to use the information only for the relevant service or support purpose. We do not sell personal information. We may also disclose information where you consent, where required or authorised by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect safety or legal rights.
6. Overseas processing
Some technology and cloud service providers may store or process information outside Australia. The locations may change and may not always be practicable for us to identify. Where the Privacy Act applies, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the circumstances when using overseas providers.
7. Website data and cookies
Our website and service providers may use essential cookies, logs or similar technologies for security, functionality, performance and analytics. You can restrict cookies through your browser, although some website features may not work as intended.
8. Data quality, security and retention
We take reasonable administrative, technical and physical steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No online system is completely secure. We retain information only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes described, business records, dispute handling and legal obligations, then take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
9. Access and correction
You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity and may refuse a request where the law permits, giving reasons where required.
10. Privacy complaints
If you have a privacy question or complaint, contact us with sufficient details. We will acknowledge and investigate it and aim to respond within 30 days. If the Privacy Act applies and you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be published on this page.
