How to coordinate cleaning, lawns, rubbish and repairs for one handover

When several contractors are involved, the order of work matters. A simple handover plan prevents cleaners from working around rubbish or trades from walking through finished rooms.

Inspect and define the outcome

Start with one documented inspection and a clear list of required outcomes. Separate tenant-responsibility questions, owner maintenance, safety issues and optional presentation improvements before issuing work.

Provide consistent access instructions and identify the person authorised to approve changes. This reduces delays when a hidden issue is discovered.

Use a practical sequence

A common order is removal of unwanted contents, repairs and licensed trade work, outdoor maintenance, detailed cleaning, then final inspection and photography. The best sequence may change where painting, flooring or major garden work is involved.

Allow drying, curing and waste-removal time between stages. Avoid booking every provider at the same hour unless the site and work zones can genuinely support it.

Close the loop

Collect completion photos, invoices, warranties and notes about unresolved issues in one record. Confirm keys, alarms, utilities and final presentation before advertising, inspection or incoming-tenant access.
